The Cooperative Winery, established on February 26, 1959, by 19 Winegrowers from Vinchio and Vaglio Serra, currently has 190 contributing members, owners and tenants of about 420 hectares of vineyards in specialised cultivation.
These vineyards extend mostly in the municipalities of Vinchio and Vaglio Serra and to a more limited extent in the neighbouring municipalities of Incisa Scapaccino, Cortiglione, Nizza Monferrato, Castelnuovo Belbo, Castelnuovo Calcea, and Mombercelli. This territory, located among the hills of Alto Monferrato, is characterised by poorly fertile soils, mainly of a calcareous and sandy nature. Moreover, most of the vineyards are located on very steep slopes, which, while making their work, particularly arduous, offer the advantage of optimal exposures.
This is therefore an intense viticulture, where human labour and passion are at the heart of productive activity. It is precisely the combination of these elements that allows the wine to express itself in the best way: low yields (1.5-2 Kg of grapes per vine), and high sugar levels: in short, the grapes produced from this land have all the indispensable ingredients to become a great wine.
The winerys commitment to pursuing excellence does not end with the work in the vineyard, but continues inside the winery, which is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, modern winemaking facilities, and a new bottling department.
In addition, the Vinchio & Vaglio Serra Winery has a comfortable retail outlet and a tasting room, where guests can taste the many wines present. Also, every Saturday morning, the cellar proposes tastings of charcuterie and typical local products in combination with the wines.
